Wondering through the forum of parallels I stumbled uppon a very interesting article, its is a about a way to change Apache web server port to use a lightweight high-performance web server, such as nginx, as a front-end web server, and move Apache web server to back-end.
You can use the following articles http://articles.slicehost.com/2008/12/17/centos-installing-nginx-via-yum
to install for example nginx in a CentOS server, and the following to configure it working with Plesk: http://www.grafxsoftware.com/faq.php/HOW-TO-configure-PLESK-with-NGinx-proxy-reverse/1/1/
http://download1.parallels.com/Plesk/PPP9/Doc/en-US/plesk-9.3-unix-advanced-administration-guide/64587.htm
I have not tested any of these, so if you do, I would appreciate a feedback.
